The CCHS vocal music department is on the ball. Director Derek Sturtevant and his choir crew have just finished their first concert of the year, their fall concert. Sturtevant currently has four ensembles: Concert Chorale, Comet Choir, Chamber, and the Sisters of Sound who are an a cappella group. Almost all performed on the night of November.  The choir recently took a trip to NIACC for Honor Choir Festival and about 50 people attended this trip. They  also participated in All-State in which 9 singers competed. The singers are  Ashlyn Bauer, Ryan Wolfe, Maci Milks, Emma Williams, Mackenzie Wilson, Kaitlyn Pellymonter, Billy Rodemaker, and Ruby Peterson.  One singer made her way to the top. Her name is Kaylee Michael and she is currently a member of the Senior Class this year. This year the choir has also made investments to buy new black robes from the company of Herff Jones Inc and each robe cost roughly $160. Sturtevant’s plans for the choir in the future include: “Competing in Large Group, Solo Ensemble and juniors and seniors attending honor choir later in the spring.”
